Both chronicles and historical materials are the precious resource which are the heritage and development of traditional Chinese medical literatures. In the period of Qianlong emperor and Jiaqing emperor, the development of block printing reached a climax in Sibao which belong to Fujian, one of the centers of block printing in China, at that time, there exist a large number of archaic printery and numerous and various block-printed books involving the aspects of traditional Chinese medicine, classics and historical records, initiatory reading materials, exam-oriented, math and divination, poetry and collected works, novel and drama, which had wide circulation inside and outside Fujian. Among the block-printed books, as the result of contribution made by block printing in Sibao to books circulation and cultural dissemination, there were much superior works which were still the master copy for revise and collation nowadays. However, because of the finitude of historical records, presently the research of block printing in Sibao is limited, and there were no literature which conduct further research on the existing Sibao block-printed medical books’ record situation in national libraries and influence on traditional Chinese medical cultural dissemination. For this reason, in this text, based on chronicles and historic materials in Fujian, feature research and utilization method of information of medical literature recorded in chronicles were explored by the means of collection, sorting and analysis of the recorded information of medicine literature and block printing; by combining present research literatures, carrying out field survey of local genealogy, recorded documents and account books, visiting the Dingfu temple exhibition hall, a bibliography of block-printed medical books about traditional Chinese medicine in Sibao is established, which reveals the printing, distribution and direction information of ancient medical books in Sibao and the significance to the dissemination and development of medicine in Fujian, and thus will provide channel for later generation to carry on obtaining and research of medical books. This research was meaningful to carry forward Sibao block printing culture and traditional Chinese medical culture and enrich traditional Chinese medical literatures in Min edition.The preface concerns mainly the background and significance of research on bibliography of block-printed medical books in Sibao:In the first chapter, on the basis of recorded historical materials, analysis of the reason for the prosperity of block printing in Sibao was conducted from the aspects of politics, geography, economy, culture, natural resource of Sibao district, and the reason for the decline of block printing in Sibao was also analysed from the aspects of market competitiveness, management mode, impact from external factors; In the second chapter, by the means of combining field survey with research on literatures, available chronicles in Fujian and historic materials of Sibao was collected, of which relevant information of block printing in Sibao and medical literatures were sorted to form the bibliography of block-printed medical books in Sibao which reveals the collection situation in libraries of present ancient medical literatures in Sibao; in the last chapter, the features information and research method of chronicles was discussed, block-printed medical books in Sibao including its block-printing, distribution and transmission direction information were mainly studied to provide channel for the research conducted by later generation, and the contribution made by block-printed books in Sibao to transmission of traditional Chinese medical knowledge and development of medicine in Fujian was also revealed.
