Objective:With the development of society and improvement of living standards, the incidence, morbidity, mortality of cerebrovascular diseases were rising, meanwhile,it was one of themajor causes of death in human diseases in the last decade. The most of survivors hadseverely disabled, they were heavy burdens to the society and family, so the study of thecerebrovascular diseases became more and more important to our medical workers. Withthe development of scientific, the advance of medical imaging technology,MRA providesa large of information and basis for the development of the applied anatomy of the cerebralartery and clinical examinations and treatments of cerebrovascular diseases tomorphological examination and study of cerebrovascular in vivo. Many cerebrovasculardiseases are closely related to the anatomical variation of cerebral arteries. FTP is acommon variant of the posterior cerebral artery. FTP is rarely reported at home and abroad. This study utilized the MRA technique to type, segment and measure the inner diameter ofthe posterior cerebral artery. Provides an important anatomical basis for diagnostic testsand interventional treatments of cerebrovascular diseases.Method:493patients were scaned by MR, spread to ADW4.4workstation with maximumintensity projection (MIP), acquire the images of cerebral artery, segment and measure theposterior cerebral artery, measure the inside diameter with special measuring tools andanalyze the results.Result:1.The branch types of the posterior cerebral artery: bilateral basilar artery to blood ofthe PCA were370(70.05%), bilateral embryonal to blood of the PCA were23(4.66%),bilateral hybrid to blood of the PCA were3(0.61%), unilateral embryo and contralateralbasilar artery to blood of the PCA were75(15.21%), unilateral embryo and contralateralhybrid of the PCA were5(1.01%), unilateral basilar artery and contralateral mixed type were13(2.64%), unilateral embryo and bilateral basilar artery for blood were4(0.81%).Bilateral embryo posterior cerebral artery and unilateral embryo posterior cerebral arterywere107, unilateral embryo posterior cerebral artery were84, there were50cases ofmale,34cases of female.2. According the section of the basilar artery to blood ofposterior cerebral artery to segment the embryonic-type posterior cerebral artery: the firstparagraph of FTP is the posterior communicating segment, since the internal carotid arteryto the front of the midbrain; the second paragraph of FTP is vertical line segment, on thetrochlear nerve and the tentorial, is a period of around the midbrain upstream; the thirdparagraph of FTP is the outgoing temporal artery to the issue of the parietal-occipital artery, calcarine sulcus artery and corpus weeks after the artery; the fourth paragraph of FTP is P2segment up to the parietal-occipital artery, calcarine sulcus artery and corpus weeks afterthe artery.3. Measure the inner diameter of the posterior cerebral artery: Right basilarartery: the first paragraph of FTP is2.02±0.30mm, the second paragraph of FTP is1.85±0.2mm, the third paragraph of FTP is1.15±0.09mm, the fourth paragraph of FTP is1.17±0.13mm. Left basilar artery: the first paragraph of FTP is2.16±0.37mm, the secondparagraph of FTP is1.87±0.29mm, the third paragraph of FTP is1.23±0.19mm, the fourthparagraph of FTP is1.15±0.16mm.Conclusion:1. MRA can clearly show the total length of the posterior cerebral artery;2. Femaleeasier to male appear embryonic posterior cerebral artery;3. The segment andmeasurement of PCA is important to the clinical interventional treatment;4. Measure theinner diameter of the posterior cerebral artery is important to the vivisection, the innerdiameter of the embryonic-type posterior cerebral artery is less than the basilar artery toblood of posterior cerebral artery.5. MRA is able to evaluate the anatomy and variation ofthe posterior cerebral artery.
