[Objective]We simulate the different Moxa-smog environment to discuss what impact of moxa smog has on the lung pathology,immune organs and the lung inflammatory reaction, so as to provide security for the use of moxibustion in acupuncture clinics.[Methods]According to the maximum concentration of moxa,which we have investigated, we simulate different Moxa-smog environment.Experimental samples are healthy Kunming mice which are divided into several experimental groups:Blank, low concentration,moderate concentration and high concentration. These mice are smoked for3hours every day except the blank group. Experimental period is4weeks. When experiments are finished, pathological changes of tissue section of lung are observed and analyzed, and Thymus index,Spleen index,content of IL-8and TNF-a in lung tissues homogenate are tested.counted and analyzed.[Results]Pathology of Pulmonary tissue:Bronchus and lung tissues are normal in control group. Vessel wall epitheliums are complete and well arranged, and there is no congestion or extravasated bleeding in blood vessel of lung. There is no bleeding, edema and inflammatory cell infiltration in the gap of pulmonary interstitium. Low concentration group and high concentration group are normal; moderate concentration group are normal except three samples(two samples have edema around blood vessels and bronchus, and one sample has bleeding in bronchial lumen.Thymus index and Spleen index:Among experimental groups and control group,it shows no statistical significance. Between each experimental group,it shows no statistically significant.(P>0.05)Content of IL-8and TNF-α in lung tissues homogenate:Among experimental groups and control group,it shows no statistical significance. Between each experim-ental group,it shows no statistically significant.(P>0.05) [Conclusions]Mouse lung tissue can not make the exact pathological changes and inflammatory reaction in the Moxa-smog environment of this experiment, moreover,it shows no significant correlation with the concentration.Moxibustion used in acupuncture clinics can not harm the human body in4weeks,and it is safe to use.
