ObjectiveTo investigate the MPR image quality of reconstruction and reformation slicethicknesses in multislice CT study for the normal adrenal gland.Materials and MethodsA total of72patients (42men,30women;age range,23-80years;mean age,52years)who with normal adrenal gland underwent liver contrast material-enhanced CT performedwith Sensation64-slice spiral CT.The adrenal gland raw data was reconstructed with0.6mm,1.0mm,1.5mm,2.0mm slice thicknesses,with70%section overlap.Coronal MPRimages were obtained with0.6mm,1.0mm,1.5mm and2.0mm reformation.Subjectiveimage quality was evaluated by two independent reviewers, using a5-piont gradingscale. The signal-to-noise ratio(SNR) was measured quantitatively;Kruskal-Wallis test wasused for statistical analysis.ResultsThe signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) and score of1.0mm/1.5mm (reconstruction/reformation slice thicknesses),1.0mm/2.0mm,1.5mm/2.0mm reconstructed MPR images werefound to be significantly higher than other groups(P<0.001),but there were no significantdifference(P>0.05) between the three groups.ConclusionThe volume of adrenal gland is small and thin,so we recommend using1.0mm/1.5mmslice thicknesses for the adrenal MPR reconstruction and reformatione, meanwhile ensureto obtain a better image quality.
