Objectives To discuss the incidence, diagnosis, treatment and prognosis of urethral cancer after radical cystectomy and to find out methods of prophylactic. Methods The clinical data of47patients with urethral tumor recurrence after radical cystectomy was analyzed retrospectively with STATA7.0Results Urethral tumor recurrence might be correlated with primary bladder tumor size, site, recrudescence, multiple tumor, pathologic staging and grading(P<0.05). The greatest risk factor for urethral TCC(transitional cell carcinoma) recurrence is tumor involvement of the prostate or the prostate urethra, bladder neck, trigoneConclution Simultaneous urethrectomy following radical cystectomy should be performed for patients with high risk factors such as prostate involvement, bladder neck involvement, trigone tumor and higher stage tumor. Prostate involvement with urethral recurrence significantly associated with urethral recurrence following radical cystectomy. The detection of asymptomatic urethral recurrence was associated with significantly lower stage tumor, suggesting the importance of continued postoperative evaluation of the urethra.
