Objective:A retrospective study of treatment of92cases of intertrochanteric fracturesin elderly,to compare the method between arthroplasty and locking plate.Method:It is a retrospective study of92cases of intertrochanteric fractures of elderlyfrom June2009to June2012,with a mean age of79.49years (ranging from75to93years).According to the different operation methods of arthroplasty orlocking plate, Record the operation time, blood transfusions in or after surgery, time in bed, postoperative complications, hip function after surgery, which isassessed referring to Harris form, and evaluate the two operation methods. Results:The method arthroplasty compared to locking plate, has a statisticmeaning(p<0.05), get a better result in operation time, time in bed, postoperative complications and hip function after surgery. But the result ofblood transfusion has no statistic meaning(p>0.05).Conclusions:1.Arthroplasty,the shorter operation time, the shorter time in bed, thelesser postoperative complications and the better hip function after surgery, isbetter than locking plate in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures inelderly. 2. Arthroplasty is a valuable choice for interchanteric fractures in elderly. It obviously shorten the time in both operating and lying in bed, and get a betterconsequence in postoperative hip function. It vastly reduce the rate ofpostoperative complication and mortality.
