[Objective] To explore the clinical results of the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of femur with MIPPO technology combined with Locking Compression Plate in elderly patients.[Methods] From October 2008 to April 2010, forty elderly patients with intertrochanteric fracture of femur were treated with MIPPO technology combined with Locking Compression Plate, which involved 23 males and 17 females with an average age of 71.2 years (range, 60 to 93 years). The effect was investigated by retrospective analysis.[Results] Thirty-six cases were followed up for 12 to 29 months, average 18.3 months. All wounds healed well, and no postoperative complication occurred. All fracture healed well without deformed healing, screw loosening, plate fracture etc. The average fracture healing time was 4.2 months (range, 3 to 6 months). The excellent and good rate was 89% according to Harris score standard in the 12 months after surgery.[Conclusion] MIPPO technology combined with Locking Compression Plate has an excellent clinical value in the treatment of intertrochanteric fracture of femur in elderly patients, with simple operation, reliable fixation, fast healing and few complications.
