ObjectiveTo investigate the role of NF-кB, VEGF proteins in the pathogenesis andprogression of cervical carcinoma.MethodsImmunohistochemical method (P-V6000) was performed to examine theexpression of NF-кB p65and VEGF proteins in65cases of cervical squamouscell cancer,110cases of CIN and28cases of chronic cervical inflammatorytissues.Results1. Higher positive expression rate of NF-кBp65protein (70.8%) wasobserved,in the group of cervical squamous cell carcinoma, than that of in thegroups of CIN Ⅰ, CIN II and chronic cervical inflammation(P<0.05); but nosignificant difference statistically was observed between the groups of CIN IIIand cervical cancer(P>0.05);in the group of poorly differentiated squamous cell carcinoma, The positiveexpression rate of NF-кBp65protein was90.3%(28/31cases), significantlyhigher than that of in the group of highly-moderately differentiated group(52.9%); in the group of positive lymph node metastasis was90%(27/30cases), significantly higher than that of in the group of no lymph nodemetastasis(54.3%); 2. In the group of cervical squamous cell cancer, positive rate of VEGFprotein’s expression was69.2%(45/65cases), significantly higher than that ofin the groups of chronic cervical inflammation, CIN I, CIN I(IP<0.05); however,no significant difference ststistically was found between the groups of CIN IIIand cervical squamous cell cancer(P>0.05);Higher positive expression rate of VEGF protein (83.9﹪)was found in thegroups of poorly differentiated and positive lymph node metastasis than that ofin the groups of highly-moderately differentiated and negtive lymph nodemetastasis(P<0.05);3. both positive expression of NF-кB p65and VEGF proteions wasobtained in38cases (58.5%) of65cases of cervical cancer; both negative theproteins in12cases(18.5%), differentially express of the proteins in15cases(23.1%); Spearman correlation analysis showed that the expression of NF-кBp65and VEGF had a significant positive correlation (correlation coefficient, r=0.451, P <0.05).positive lymph node metastasis were found in27cases of38caseswhich are both positive expression of NF-кB p65and VEGF proteins. But only3/12cases in negative expression of both NF-кB p65and VEGFproteins(r=0.401,P<0.05).Conclusions1.The overexpression of NF-кB p65protein might play an important role inthe pathogenesis and malignant biologic behavious of cervical cancer.2.Both VEGF and NF-кB proteins may be collaborative in promoting thedevelopment of cervical squamous cell carcinoma.
