Objective To study the etiology, treatment of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy and its impact on mother and child. Methods Retrospective analysis of144cases of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy in our hospital and Zunyi hospital from February2010to December2011. At the same time,144pregnant women with normal amount of blood platelet were selected as control group. The incidences of cesarean section postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia were compared between the two groups. Results In this study, pregnancy-related thrombocytopenia was most prevalent cause of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy, followed by idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura and hypertensive disorder complicating pregnancy. However, the incidences of cesarean section postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia in study group did not differ statistically from the control group. PAT does not need specific treatment. The treatment of other causes of thrombocytopenia should base on primary disease. If the amount of platelet is lower than50×109/L and leading to bleeding. We should use corticosteroids, immunoglobulin and platelet. In74cases of Cesarean section,14of them select general anesthesia, the other selcet the continuous epidural anesthesia. In all of the cases, none of them have complications such as postoperative epidural hematoma. Our study showed that the incidence of pregnancy-related thrombocytopenia. Conclusion Pregnancy-related thrombocytopenia is the primary causes of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy. The prognosis is good and it does not need special treatment. The delivery way depend on the platelet lever obstetric indications. The incidences of cesarean section postpartum hemorrhage and neonatal asphyxia in cases of thrombocytopenia in pregnancy have no difference compared to normal pregnant women. The highest incidence of pregnancy-related thrombocytopenia was in Renhuai.
