Objective:To evaluate the impact of the controlled ovarian stimulation (COS) on the serum progesterone level in follicular phase, and to explore the relationship between the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in the follicular phase of COS cycle and the serum progesterone level in the corresponding period of natural cycle.Methods:142cases of IVF performed and97cases of patients accepted monitoring ovulation in natural cycle were analyzed in this study, thereinto,52of the97cases were performed IVF-ET after the completion of the monitoring ovulation. The serum progesterone levels were analysed by radioimmunoassay.Result:The changing trend of the serum progesterone level was similar in COS cycle and in natural cycle. The serum progesterone levels showed gradually increasing trend from the early follicular to the late follicular phase in the natural cycle and in COS cycle (F=66.531, P<0.01and F=59.475, P<0.01), and a positive correlation was showed between the serum progesterone level and the follicle growth rate (P<0.01). A phenomenon of the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally was observed in the late follicular period of natural cycle (29/97). The selfcontrolled study of52cases showed the incidence of the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally was respectively34.62%(18/52) and40.38%(21/52) in natural cycle and COS cycle.18casess who showed the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in natural cycle reoccurred in8cases in COS cycle. The serum progesterone level of13cases who showed the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in COS cycle did not exceed the critical value in natural cycle (a=0.17, P>0.05).Conclusions:The changing regularity of serum progesterone level in follicular phase is similar in natural cycle and in COS cycle. The application of superovulation drug do not change the changing trend of the serum progesterone level, and also do not increase incidence of the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in the follicular phase. The phenomenon of the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in the follicular period in natural cycle also exist. There are no clear relationship between the serum progesterone level elevated abnormally in the follicular phase in natural cycle and COS cycle.
