Objective: To investigate the feasibility of brief Community Screening Instrument forDementia(CSI-D) in chinese community dementia screening, analyzing it’sreliability、validity and the best critical point in Hubei community elderly.Methods:297elderly people from nursing home of huangshi city in Hubei provincewere assessed using breif CSI-D and MMSE at the same time. We took the manual ofmental disease diagnose and statistics as a probably diagnostic criteria, all theparticipants were divided into dementia group、non-demented group、low educationgroup and education group. To indicate the overall performance and best critical pointof brief CSI-D,, we make use of CSI-D which contained cognitive scores、informants score and discriminant function score, then compared their sensitivity、specificity and differences between the groups respectively. Results: Seven cognitive items(Cronbach coefficient is0.753) and six informantitems (Cronbach coefficient is0.761)in brief CSI-D were selected with excellentinternal consistency, the sensitivity of cognitive scores、 informants scores anddiscriminant function scores were90.70%、79.07%、95.35%,the specificity were88.58%、93.31%、85.83%;These three types of score had Significant differencesbetween dementia group and non-demented group(p<0.001); Cognitive scores hadsignificant differences between low-education group and hight-educationgroup(p<0.01), but no significant differences in informants score and discriminantfunction score between them(p>0.05). AUROC were0.944、0.905、0.969and the bestcritical point were4.5、1.5、4.5. Conclusion: The brief CSI-D is an effective、reliable and independent educationaland cultural tool in dementia screening, which had a satisfactory sensitivity in theearly stage of the disease diagnosis. It was suitable for the non-specialist healthworker using in primary health care institution.
