Zangfu-Exterior-Interior Consistency Theory of TCM(Traditional Chinese Medicine), which is a part of the TCM viscera doctrine, was initially recorded in the book Inner Canon of the Yellow Emperor. The theory developed into mature and complete theory after long time efforts of exploration and supplyment of doctors in various of dynasties. Lung and large interestine, as a pair of Zangfu-Exterior-Interior organs, deserve significant reseach. Although anatomically speaking, lung and large interestine are far from each other, the fact does not effect their intimate relationship at all. Their intimacy is due to mediation function of spleen and stomach. The reason is that spleen and stomach are the pivot for the qi motion in the whole body and that spleen is lung’s mother and that stomach and large interestine both belong to "the stomach famlity". The physiological relationship between lung and large interestine can be summarized into seven aspects. The aspects are mutual meridian belongs, mutual coursing of ascending and descending, upper and lower sympathy, essence-qi storing and relieving, body fluid promotion and distribution, water and nutrition distribution, coordination of exterior and interior. Mutual meridian belongs is the fundamental of all the relationships between lung and large interestine and each of the seven is not isolated, but closely inflenced and penetrated. Lung and larege intetestine maintain their dynamic physiological balance in the way of the seven close relationships. It is due to physiological close relationship between lung and large interestine that pathological influence between the two organs are obvious seen. Lung disease can transfer to large interestine and large interestine disease can also transfer to lung. For instance, Common cold can usually relieved from excretion. Long time constipation that lead to Fu-qi obstruction can influence lung and cause cough or asthma. The treatments for lung-large interestine related diseases are also flexible and various, such as cure lung to cure large interestine or cure large interestine to cure lung or simultaneously cure lung and large interestine. Common treatment principles include open and lift up Lung-qi, Fu Di Chou Xin(stop boil by taking away the firewood from under the caldron), ventilating lung and large interestine and so on. According to wholism it is unavoidable to mention other organs while discussing lung and large interestine. Nevertheless, a clear understanding of lung and large interestine relationship and disease transferring rules would be beneficial to researching other organs. This article is based on the interpretation and analysis of TCM (traditional Chinese Medicine) literature before the year of1949. The article expounded "the rules and characteristics of lung-disease transferring to large intestine ", which is a part of the theory of "Interior and exterior relationship between lung and large intestine".This article consists of three parts. The theoretical basis of lung disease transferring to large intestine was explained in the first part. The first part contains two aspects, the first is the anatomical and physiological explanations of lung and large intestine and the second is the relationship between lung and large intestine. Through analysing ancient prescription books and ancient medical records, the characteristics and rules of lung disease transferring to large intestine was discussed in the second part of this article by respectively discussing lung diseases and lung differentiation syndrom patterns. The rules of lung diseases transferring to large interestine are generalized by comprehensive analysis. The rules include the follow three.1.Fire or heat evil in lung is prone to transfer to large interestine.2.With the affect of exogenous factors lung diseases are prone to transfer to large interestine.3.When large interestine is weak, lung diseases are prone to transfer to large interestine. The third part of the thesis is summary.
