The Influence Of Postoperation Rehabilitation By Fumigating And Washing With Traditional Chinese Medicine After Unilateral Pedicle Screw Fixation Of Lumbar Degenerative Instability

Objective:To evaluate the effect of fumigating and washing with traditional Chinese medicine for the patients with lumbar spine degenerative instability who were treated by unilateral pedicle screw fixation and lumbar interbody fusion operation.Methods:All patients were conformed to the diagnosis standards of lumbar spine degenerative instability, and they were eligible adopted with accurate conclusion standards and exclusion standards. They were collected from July2010to July2011. The patients were divided into two groups at random:traditional Chinese medicine treating group(n=30), conventional therapy group(n=30).There were no significant differences in mean age, gender, course of disease, fixed section, preoperative VAS score, ODI score, JOA score between the two groups(P>0.05).Any operation was voluntary on any patient. All cases were treated with unilateral pedicle screw fixation and lumbar interbody fusion, and after operation conventional therapy were given to the patients of both groups, but shujinhuoxue lotion washing were given to the treated group additionally15days following the operation.VAS score, ODI and JOA assessment system were used to evaluate before and6weeks, one year after operation.X-ray examinations were taken3,6,12months after operation, which were to survey if the related complications have occurred. The related complications including fracture of pedicle screw, pedicle screw coming loose, cage sinking and so on. The scores and complication rate were compared and analyzed by means of χ2test and t test.Results:(1)The postoperative VAS, ODI, JOA score were all significantly superior to those before operation(P<0.05).(2)The VAS, ODI scores at6th week after operation in traditional Chinese medicine treating group were significant lower than these in the conventional therapy group after operation(P<0.05) and the JOA scores were significant higher in traditional Chinese medicine treating group(P<0.05).(3)1year after operation, the VAS, ODI and JOA score in traditional Chinese medicine treating group were significant superior to the conventional therapy group(P<0.05).(4)The complication rate was not significant different between the two groups at the latest follow-up (P>0.05).Conclusion:(1)It has active significance for improving the effect of lumbar interbody fusion postoperative rehabilitation.(2)These shows the shujinhuoxue lotion had the preventive and therapeutic effect on Failed back surgery syndrome to some extent.(3)The shujinhuoxue decoction is economical, practical and reliable without side-effect,which was well worth clinical popularizing and application.
