Objective: To investigate the Kazak child’s obesity index such as(waist circumference、hip circumference、skinfold thickness、body mass index、waist-hip ratio、waist-height-ratio)was correlated with blood pressure in Xinjiang Yili, for providingclinical guidance. Methods: In Yili region of Xinjiang in May-June2009, usingmulti-stage, stratified random sampling method, selected eight primary schools formKazak children aged6to16and investigated a total of2438. To measure waistcircumference, hipcircumference, skinfold thickness, systolic and diastolic blood pressureand to Calculatebody mass index, waist-hip ratio, waist-height-ratio. Analysis ofdifferences in age and gender, blood pressureis divided into hypertensive and normalgroupsinchildren standard.UsingSPSS17.0software for statisticalanalysis of the correlation. Results: The total prevalence of hypertension was5.7%in Kazakh school-age childrenin Xinjiang’s Yili, among4.4percent in the boys and7.0%percent in the girls.Waistcircumference, hip circumference, waist-height-ratio, waist-hip ratio, systolic and diastolicblood pressure carry gender-age differences(P=0.000). Average systolic bloodpressure was correlated to waist circumference, hip circumference, skinfoldthickness, body mass index, waist to hip ratio (P=0.000), among hip showing the mostobvious relativity (man r=0.618, female r=0.655). The average diastolic bloodpressure was correlated to waist circumference, hip circumference, skinfold thickness, body mass index, waist to hip ratio (P=0.000), which the hip is the strongest (manr=0.489,female r=0.548). There was significant difference between Hypertension groupand normal blood pressure group in waist circumference, hip circumference, skinfoldthickness, body massindex and waist-hipratio(P<0.05).Conclusion: In Xinjiang Yili, theprevalence of hypertension was the low level in Kazak school-aged children compared todomestic and foreign same age. Indicators of obesity such as waist circumference, hip circumference, body mass index and waist to hip ratio is positively correlated with varyingdegrees of blood pressure, which was to the hip is particularly significant.
