Backgroud Young permanent teeth which endodontic and periapical disease or injury lead to pulpal infection and necrosis, apical foramen has not been formed to be apexification, so that the apical foramen is closed only after the line perfect root canal therapy,to maintain the length of the root canal, restore tooth function. The apexification surgery can induce apical formation, promotion of tooth development. The commonly used root canal inducers are calcium hydroxide, antibiotic paste, calcium phosphate bio-ceramic. The vitapex reported more of a root tip inducer, and promote the healing of the periapical lesion cells and defects in bone tissue reconstruction does not harm the permanent tooth germ does not cause lumps. And the operation is simple and convenient. Inorganic oxide minerals condensed body (mineral trioxide aggregate, the MTA) has good biocompatibility, and its curing quickly, provides an artificial apical barrier for the root filling material, allowing the immediate root canal filling, while ensuring that the root canal can be filled tight. That has been the recent research focus. In this study, comparative analysis MTA and Vitapex in the induction of the apical short-term efficacy, broaden the induction of apical forming operation time filling the efficacy of understanding and exploring the ideal apical induction materials. Objective Compare the short-term (six month) clinical efficacy in apexification of MTA and Vitapex, to explore ideal materials of apexification.Methods49cases of outpatient, a total of58young permanent teeth which under root forming stage were randomly divided into experimental group (the MTA group,30teeth) and a control group (Vitapex group,28teeth), two groups were balanced distribution of consistent baseline, and are young permanent teeth with incomplete root formation. Two groups were treated respectively with the corresponding drug for apexification. The follow-up assessment was conduct on the3rd month and the6th month to evaluate the efficacy based on clinical effect and X-ray results.Results3months postreatment, there were two failure cases in each groups, The effective rate of MTA group was93.3%, while92.9%of Vitapex group;6months postreatment, one additional failure case happened in Vitapex group, The effective rate of MTA group was93.3%, while Vitapex group was89.3%, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05)between two groups. Conclusion Both MTA and Vitapex pastes are ideal apical inducer. The treatment cycle of using MTA to treat the tooth with unclosed apical foramen is short and effective, and MTA is expected to replace the traditional calcium hydroxide-induced preparations.
