Objective:To observe acupuncture effect in different needling time in treating primary dysmenorrhea.Methods:568cases of primary dysmenorrhea were randomly divided into5groups,3groups with300cases were chosen. Needling before period group, needling immediately with primary dysmenorrhea group, and control group.100cases in each group and14cases were excluded. To observe changes in TCM symptom scale, and to compare differences among three groups. Results:Comparing with before treatment, there was no difference in three groups(P>0.05). There was no difference in control group before and after three periods(P>0.05). And there was difference between two needling groups after treatment(P<0.05). There was difference between before and after treatment in each needling group seperately(P<0.05). Compare with control group, there was difference in each needling group seperately(P<0.05).Conclusion:Needling before period group and needling immediately with primary dysmenorrhea group can greatly relive clinical symptoms and can reduce TCM symptom scale of primary dysmenorrhea patients. Needling5days before period group has a better therapeutic effect than needling immediately with primary dysmenorrhea. So we conclude that needling5days before period is the best intervention time for primary dysmenorrhea. It is better to treat primary dysmenorrhea patients due to cold and blood stasis before period, and it is better to treat primary dysmenorrhea patients due to qi stagnation and blood stasis immediately when pain occurs.
