Background: Bipolar hemi arthroplasty replacement has become the mainlytreatment of elderly femoral neck fractures.But the option of which type of prosthesis tochoose for this kind of fracture between noncement and cement,there is less reportcurrently,however,there is some controversy.This article is retrospective evaluation forsuch treatment.Objective:Noncement and cement bipolar hemi arthroplasty were compared with theeffection of treatment for elderly patients with femoral neck fracture.Methods:We performed a one-year fllow-up evaluation involving100elderlypatients with femoral neck fracture who were randomized to treat with either a noncementhemi arthroplasty or a cement hemi arthroplasty.The100cases were all older than the80-year-old,collected from Shandong University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospitalfrom January2010to March2011.We actually followed up87cases,including38malesand49females,average age84years.87cases were in selection of noncement prosthesis44cases,cement prosthesis43cases.Noncement type was in group A,cement was ingroup B.Two groups were compared with operative time,blood loss,postoperativedrainage, weight-bearing time, hospitalization time, intraoperative cardiovascularaccident,postoperative complications,after1month,6months and12months of the hipprosthesis score,and imaging respectively. Results:The two groups in blood loss,postoperative drainage,weight-bearing time,hospitalization time,postoperative complications,were no significant differentces.No-ncement group had shorter operative time.Cement group had five cases with cardi-ovascular accident in surgery and noncement group had no case.After1month,6monthsand12months of hip function score,two groups were no significant difference.The hipanteroposterior X ray of two groups during follow-up showed no loosening.Conelusion: Noncement prosthesis replacement has shorter operative time,intraoperative risk,less bone destruction,revison simple,which is significantly moreexcellent than cement prosthesis.Noncement bipolar hemi arthroplasty is one of the bestoption for elderly femoral neck fractures with the ability of bone ingrowth and no severeosteoporosis....
