Object:In order to better determine the pathogenesis of idiopathic trigeminal neuralgia and research better surgical approach, we do chronic constriction injury to rat’s infraorbital nerve to establish rat trigeminal neuralgia Experimental model. Methods:We randomly divide42healthy adult rats into experimental and contrast groups, doing chronic constriction injury to experimental group, while merely exposing infraorbital nerve to contrast group, and observe the change of pain threshold and behavior of rats during different periods after surgery, and determine the contents of SP and5-HT.Result:Substance P (SP) content in the experimental group was significantly higher than the contrast group,5-HT content in the experimental group was significantly lower than the contrast group (P<0.01). Rats in the experiment group developed trigeminal neuralgia in2to8weeks, gradually returned to normal in about12weeks.Conclusion:The chronic constriction injury to rats can cause trigeminal neuralgia, and pain will be relieved if injury be removed...
