Objective To explore the relationship of the peripheral blood inflammatory cytokineIL-6and IL-10and cognitive impairment after cerebral infarction. Methods Selected128cases of acute ischemic cerebral infarction patients, who werehospitalized in neurological department or outpatient of the First Affiliated Hospitalof Nanhu university from October,2010to October,2011.50cases of old people incontrol group matched for age, sex, education, and vascular risk factors was selectedfrom outpatient. To evaluate their cognition function by montreal cognitiveassessment (MoCA) in the acute phase, divided into normal cognitive function groupand cognitive dysfunction group according their cognitive function, to collect generalinformation, to collect blood samples to measure; All patients were followed up3months later, to evaluate their cognition function by the MoCA again, divided intonormal cognition (NC) group, vascular cognitive dysfunction (VCIND) group, vascular dementia (VaD) group according their cognitive function, to collect bloodsamples to measure. IL-6and IL-10were measured by enzyme linked immunosorbentassay(ELISA).Results1、The normal cognitive group accounted for47cases (40.87%) and thecognitive impairment group accounted for68cases (59.13%) in the acute phase; NCaccounted for37cases (32.17%), VCIND accounted for54cases (46.96%) and VaDaccounted for24cases (20.87%)3months later; in the acute phase, the rate ofcognitive impairment incidence accounted for59.13%; in3months after cerebralinfarction occurred, the rate of VaD incidence accounted for20.87%; Compared withthe NC group, cognitive impairment group was significant difference in age,education;2、Compared with the control group, the expression of IL-6and IL-10in serum of thepatients in the case group was higher in the acute phase, but the ratio of IL-10/IL-6 was lower(P<0.05);3、Compared with the control group, the expression of IL-6in serum of thepatients in the case group was higher in3months after cerebral infarctionoccurred, but the the expression of IL-10and the ratio of IL-10/IL-6was lower(P<0.05);4、In the acute phase, Compared with the normal cognitive group, theexpression of IL-6and IL-10in serum of the patients of the cognitive impairmentgroup was higher, but the ratio of IL-10/IL-6was lower(P<0.05);5、Compared with the NC group, the expression of IL-6in the VCIND groupand the VaD group was higher in3months after cerebral infarction occurred but theexpression of IL-10and the ratio of IL-10/IL-6was lower (P<0.05);there was alsosignificant difference between VCIND group and VaD group in3months aftercerebral infarction occurred(P<0.05);6、3months after cerebral infarction occurred,in term of the result ofneuropsychological scores, patients with stroke were divided into deteriorated groupand improved group. The expression of IL-6in the deteriorated group was highercompared to those of the improved group, but the expression of IL-10and the ratio ofIL-10/IL-6was lower (P<0.05);7、Correlation analysis showed that the expression of IL-6was negativelycorrelated with the MoCA score(P<0.01).Conclusions1、 The expression of IL-6in serum of patients with cognitiveimpairment after cerebral infarction increased;2、The IL-10has a protective effect in cognitive impairment and itschanges after the occurrence of cerebral infarction.3、The imbalance expression of the IL-6and IL-10may be associatedwith the cognitive impairment after cerebral infarction.
