Major depressive disorder had been considered as a functional disorder.However with the development of magnetic resonance image (MRI) inrecent years, it is recognized that depression has certain biological basis.Magnetic resonance imaging can reveal the structural and functional brainabnormalities. It is useful for us to keep track of the patient’s progress andassess the effects of anti-depression treatment.
