The Application Prospect Of Using Dried Blood Spot In Prenatal Screening For Down Syndrome

Down syndrome is the most common human chromosome abnormality disease. Mental and physical developmental disorders are the main clinical manifestations of Down syndrome. It’s a heavy burden to families and society. So the Down syndrome prenatal screening is extremely important.Although more and more prenatal screening serum markers and programs for Down syndrome are developed in recent years, the prenatal screening coverage is still less than30%in China. The dried blood spot has many advantages such as facilitate the collection, simple operation, low cost, stability, security, ease of save and transit, with the same detection capabilities of serological screening, etc. The DBS in prenatal screening for Down syndrome can solve the problem that some poor and remote areas in China which can not be screening extensive. It’s suitable for China. This paper is a review and outlook of dried blood spot in prenatal screening for Down syndrome.
