A Comparative Study Between Aspirinand Clopidogrel After Extracranial Cerebral Artery Stenting

Background:The efficacy and safety of cerebral artery stenting，especially those of extracranial cerebral artery have been clinicallyproven. At present, the extracranial cerebral arterystenting has been extensively carried out both in China andabroad, but there is no evidence of evidence-based medicine about manyaspects of antiplatelet therapy after stenting.Therefore, thisstudy intends to compare the efficacy of two antiplatelet drugs afterstenting and tries to provide theoretical basis for clinical treatment.Objective:To compare the effect of aspirin or clopidogrel separatelyafterextracranial cerebral artery stenting during one year follow-up.Methods:62patients with symptomatic extracranial carotidartery stenosis>50%or asymptomatic stenosis>70%,or symptomatic extracranial posterior circulation artery stenosis>50%were selected andperformed stenting under local anesthesia,all of them would take dualantiplatelet therapy(aspirin100mg/d and clopidogrel75mg/d) for onemonth,and then take aspirin(100mg/d) or clopidogrel(75mg/d)separately,to record complications,vascular events or mortality during one year.Results:There was no vascular events between Aspirin group(32patients) and Clopidogrel group(30patients) during one year,and theincidence of complications (6%vs13%) and mortality(0vs3%) had nosignificant difference between two groups(P>0.05).Conclusions:There was no significant difference on incidence ofcomplications,vascular events and mortality after taking aspirin orclopidogrel separately for one year after extracranial cerebral arterystenting and subsequently dual antiplatelet therapy for one month,it wasworth further observation of large sample.
