Objective To investigate the value of GRACE and TIMI risk score for riskstratification and predictive prognosis in female patients with acute myocardialinfarction, and study their value in predicting clinical events in those patients. Methods We retrospectively studied246female patients with acute myocardialinfarction who were admitted to Chinese PLA General Hospital from January2005toJanuary2010and divided them into elderly group (≥65yrs) and non-elderlygroup(<65yrs). After reviewing the patients’ database, we calculated theGRACE/TIMI scores and divided them into low risk group, moderate risk group andhigh-risk group by scores. We followed-up all the patients for1year to learn themortality and MACE (major adverse cardiac events) rate. Differences of aboveparameters were compared between two scoring methods, and the accuracy of thepatients’ incidence rate of mortality and MACE were compared between GRACE andTIMI risk score by the area under the ROC curve. Results (1) The incidence rate ofMACE among the patients within30days after onset and1year after the dischargefrom hospital of three groups have significant differences;(2) The area under ROCcurve corresponding to the mortality rate and the incidence rate of MACE in anyperiod by GRACE scoring system is larger than TIMI coring system in elderly group, and there is no significant difference in the non-elderly group. Conclusion The twomethods can both be adoptable in clinical risk stratification of female patients withacute myocardial infarction. Comparing with the TIMI scoring system, GRACEscoring system has a higher accuracy in predicting of elderly patients.
