Objective:To observe the effectivity of The Modified Xiangsha Liujunzi soup on the elderly NSAIDs induced peptic ulcer in virtual stagnation syndrome, and understand the impact of virtual stagnation pathogenesis in the elderly NSAIDs associated gastroduodenal ulcer. Methods:The study contains a total of60cases who were diagnosed as NSAIDs associated gastroduodenal ulcer, these cases were randomly divided by a random number method into two different groups.Treatment group contain30cases, who were treated with The Modified Xiangsha Liujunzi soup;30cases belong to control group, who were given the omeprazole enteric-coated capsules for treatment. Both of the two groups were treatmented for4weeks.2weeks after the treatment, clinical symptoms integral of patients were assessment, but not for gastroscopy. At the end of the4weeks therapy the both the clinical symptom scores and gastroscopic results of patients were assessed, to determine the effectiveness of treatment.Results:after2weeks treatment, two groups symptom scores were not statistically significant. After4weeks of treatment, in contrast to the controll group, the symptoms integral of the treatment group were significantly reduced (P<0.05). Gastroscopy showed that after treatment, both the ulcer area of the two groups was significantly reduced than before treatment(P <0.01),between the two groups, contrast, ulcer area have no difference (P>0.05).But Endoscopic therapeutic efficacy results suggest that treatment group were cured20cases (66.7%), markedly effective in6cases (20.0%), effective in3cases (10.0%), ineffective in1case (3.3%); the control group healed in9cases (30.0%),markedly effective in15cases (50.0%), effective in4cases (13.3%), and ineffective2cases (6.7%),with statistical difference(P <0.05), by comparing the different level of efficacy between the two groups,we found that the recovery rate of treatment group was significantly higher than that of the control group (P<0.01), while the control group was more efficiencey than the treatment group (P<0.05).Combining with diagnostic criteria, the two treatment programs have the same efficiency in promoting ulcer healing, but Chinese medicine has better advantage in the elimination of inflammation in the mucosal surrounding the ulcer scar. Conclusion:The results of this study show that after4weeks of treatment, The Modified Xiangsha Liujunzi soup can significantly improve the clinical symptoms of patients, relieve patients’ pain, and The Modified Xiangsha Liujunzi soup has equivalent efficacy in promoting healing of the ulcer with omeprazole, it is worth noting that, given the same treatment course, Chinese medicine has a better advantage in eliminating inflammation in the mucosal surrounding the ulcer scar. we can also conclude that the pathogenesis of the virtual stagnation of qi play an important role in the formation of nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs associated gastroduodenal ulcer in elderly patients...
