Objective: To access the effect and safety of acupuncture in the treatment oflumbar intervertebral disk displacement.Method: The Cochrane Library, Medline, Embase, SCI, CNKI, CBM-disc, VIP,Wangfang database were searched, the RCTs of acupuncture for lumbar intervertebraldisk displacement were selected. The quality of included studies was assessed andmeta-analysis was performed for the results of homogenous studies.Results:5studies involving500participants were included. Subgroup analyseswas performed for the different outcomes or diferent control, the inefficiency in the2studies for RR was0.47, and95%CI was [0.28,0.79] indicated that the inefficiencyin acupuncture group was lower than mobic group,1study inefficiency for RR was0.31, and95%CI was [0.11,0.84] indicated that the inefficiency in acupuncturegroup was lower than mannitol group, the inefficiency in2studies indicated thatthere was no statistical significance between acupuncture group and other therapygroup. Pain improvement in1study indicated that there was no statisticalsignificance between acupuncture group and nerve block group. No case of adverseeffect was reported. Conclusions: Acupuncture is a safe treatment for lumbar intervertebral diskdisplacement, but the efficiency about acupuncture is unsure. Due to the limited number of studies included, high risk of selection bias, performance bias anddetection bias of included studies, the evidence are not strong enough to judgewhether acupuncture is superior to other therapies, high quality evidence areneeded. |
