Background:The exact pathophysiologic mechanisms of lumbar interver tebral disc herniation(LIDH) are incomplately known, however, mechanical compression of spinal nerve roots is known to be correlated to both p ain and neural dysfunction of specific segmental nerve roots. This is s tudy was done to document newly between asymptomatic lumbar interverte bral disc herniation(ALADH) and lumbar intervertebral disc herniation in CT. The width of AFLS ,the width of superior outlet of lateral rece ss and the morphology of the disc scand the sagittal diameter of the d uraral sac in were recored repectively. CT value and hernia areas were recored by computer tomography repectively. The relations of these p arameters shown in CT were analysed. To provide objective medical radio fogy proof that manipulation treatment can remove the nerve root compr ession by comparing the change of image on CT, and explore on the mecha nism of manipulation treatment for the lumbar disc herniation. Objective:approach regional assignment to forked method to study lu mbar intervertebral disc herniation(bugle, hernia .prolapse) relationsh ip and reason of lumbar intervertebral disc hemiation and asymptomatic lumbar intervertebral disc herniation.Method: from March, 2005 to October 2006, sum up one handred twenty p atients from orthopedics dept and rehabilitative dept of the Boai hosp ital of Longyan, The sixty patients diagnosed as having lumbar disc her niation were eaqually divided into three groups accord to (bugle. herni a. prolapse )of image on CT. The sixty patients diagnosed as asymptomat ic lumbar intervertebral disc herniation were eaqually divided into th ree groups accord to (bugle. Hernia. prolapse )of image on CT, ranging age 20-59 years with an average 38.5 of years. There were not statisti cal difference in sex , age , course of disease and sengment between tow groups. Application to regional assignment to give a mark respectl y. The width of AFLS ,the width of superior outlet of lateral recess a nd the morphology of the disc scand the sagittal diameter of the durar al sac in were recored repectively by sliding caliper. CT value and her nia areas were recored by computer tomography repectively, measured th ree times and reciped mean value.Result: 1. There were not statistical difference in SI, CT value , the morphology of the disc scand the sagittal diameter of the duraral sac in , and statistical difference in the width of AFLS ,the width o f superior outlet of lateral recess between lumbar intervertebral disc proptosis and asymptomatic lumbar intervertebral disc proptosis: 2. Th ere were statistical difference in lumbar intervertebral disc herniati on segment between herniated lumbar disc and asymptomatic herniated lu mbar disc. Conclusion : 1. There wer not necessarily relationship between size, 1 ocation, type of lumbar intervertebral disc herniation and clinical sym ptom. and compression degree. 2. This paper may support the concept that mechanism of ALDH are associated with the following the three aspects: spinal reserve capacity(SRC),escaping from mechanical compression of h erniated disc and potential elastic lengthening function of revolved n erve roots, and their natural hypoxiccon sumption and anti-ischemic inj ury compensation mechanism as well.
