Objective: Diabetes and colorectal cancer are common disease, and researchesshow that colorectal cancer patients developed clinical symptom of diabetes. However, we know little of colorectal cancer in diabetes. This study tries toexplore the correlation between diabetes and colorectal cancer.Method: We collected a total of10642diabetes patients from the first affiliatedhospital of Guangxi medical university and analysis the incidence of colorectalcancer in patients with diabetes1and2, and also analysis their gender, agedistribution and colorectal malignant tumor sites. SPSS version17.0statisticalsoftware was used to analysis data. There are statistical difference for P <0.05.Results: For the10642diabetic patients,759cases (7.1%) were type1diabetes,9883cases (92.9%) were type2diabetes,6528cases (61.3%) were male,4114cases (38.7%) were female. There were163case of colorectal cancer in diabetes, with incidence rate of colorectal cancer was1.53%, one (0.6%) of which wastype1diabetes and162cases (99.4%) were type2diabetes;98cases (60.1%)were men, and65cases (39.9%) were women;82cases (50.3%) were coloncancer, and81(49.7%) cases were rectal cancer. Incidence rate of colorectal cancer was significant difference (P <0.05) between type1and2diabetes; andthe difference was not significant (P>0.05) between sex. Age segmentationresearch (less than40years old,40to60years, more than60years old) foundthat colorectal cancer incidence rates for less than40years old was0.07%,40to60years was1.04%,60years old or above was2.42%, and the difference wassignificant between each two groups (P<0.05). The ratio for colon to rectal casesis closer to1:1.Conclusion: Type2diabetics are more likely to happen in colorectal cancer, andpatients with diabetes is older, the risk of colorectal cancer is greater. Theprevention and control of colorectal cancer should strengthen colorectalscreening and treatment of diabetes, especially in the elderly patients.
