A Meta-analysis Of Efficacy And Safty Of Trimetazidine In Treatment Of Patients With Stable Angina Pectoris

Objective: To evaluate the efficacy and safety of Trimetazidine(TMZ) in thetreatment of Stable Angina Pectoris (SAP). Methods: Randomized controlled trials(RCTs) about the effect of Trimetazidine on patients with SAP from January1989to June2011were searched for according to inclusion and exclusion criteria. Fifteen studies werechosen at last for Meta-analysis. The data were analysed by REVMAN5.0software.Results: After therapy, Efficacy was assessed with the time to1-mm ST depression(min)of ergometric,duration of effort(min), time to onset of angina (min), mean weekly numberof angina attacks(times/W), mean weekly nitrate consumption(mg/W)． Safety wasassessed with the relative risk (RR) of the adverse event．A total of15clinical trials wereincluded in the meta-analysis of which1500patients were randomly assigned（764ontrimetazidine,736on control group). Patients’s records were pooled. Overall WMD were0.84（P=0.01) for the time to1mm ST segment depression(min),0.82(P=0.021) for theexercise test duration(min),1.18(P＜0.00001) for the time to onset of angina (min),-1.79(P＜0.00001) for the mean weekly number of angina attacks and-0.60(P＜0.00001) forthe mean weekly nitrate consumption.The overall relative risk of Trimetazidine versusControl group was RR=0.83,95%CI[0.52,1.32](P=0.42) for Safety. Conclusion: Based onthe current studies, Trimetazidine is superior to the Control group in treatment of StableAngina Pectoris (SAP) at present, Trimetazidine was in balance with Control group in theincidence of adverse reactions. For the quality restrictions of the included studies, moredouble blind RCTs with high quality are required to further assess the effects.
