objective: Discuss the issue of improved posterior fossadecompression and cistern magna angioplasty with suboccipitaldecompression plus expansion of the dural repair technique comparedchiari malformation with syringomyelia treatment indications, efficacyand complications of the difference. Methods: Neurosurgery of ourhospital in accordance with the specific circumstances of the patientsusing a modified posterior fossa decompression in January2008toJanuary2012plus the cisterna magna angioplasty and posterior cranialfossa decompression and expansion of the dural repair treatment of76cases of chiari malformation combinedpatients with syringomyelia, thecomparative analysis of its efficacy, complications, and syringomyeliachange the situation. Results: Fossa decompression and improved thecisterna magna forming surgery group total effective rate was80.6%,long-term total effective rate of71.9%; posterior fossa decompressionand expansion of the dural plasty group total effective rate77.5%, thelong-term efficacy of total effective rate was67.6%. Two groups in termsof efficacy, complications, and spinal cord hollow improve the situation, the difference was not statistically significant. Conclusion: Forming pluscisterna magna according to the individual patient using a modifiedposterior fossa decompression surgery and posterior fossa decompressionand expansion of the dural repair treatment chiari malformation with syringomyelia in efficacy, complications, the difference was notstatistically significant.
