A Preliminary Study On Qijie Theory

Qijie theory is an important part of acupuncture basic theory. Previous studies took qijie theory into the system of meridians and not enough in-depth. In order to establish a complete theoretical system of qijie, this paper analysises qijie’s connotation and extension by starting from its concept and moving route, etc.This paper is composed by three parts. The first part is literature review. By sorting out the research of qijie in recent years, it gives an introduction to the development of qijie about the concept, content, guidance of clinical, modern scientific research. So we could fully grasp the situation of development of the qijie theory.The second part is the preliminary study on qijie theory. The zongqi(pectoral qi)and yuanqi(original qi) are the core substances of the qi in qijie. The moving route of chong meridian(thoroughfare vessel) is the basis of the qi in qijie. The two kinds relationships between meridians such as exterior and interior relationship and interoperability relationship are the characteristics of the qi in qijie. The qi in qijie operates as figure8two-way reciprocating cycle mode which much more likes DNA super spiral structure in chest and abdomen, lower and upper limbs. Qijie theory could guide the selection of acupoints. For example, we could select acupoints on the chest (including back acupoints), elbow and foot on situation to for the disease in zongqi. we could select acupoints on abdominal (including back acupoints), knee and hand on situation for the disease in yuanqi. we could select acupoints on one spiral line of "back acupoints of abdomenâ†'qijieâ†'lateral thighâ†'medial lower leg" in the qijie mode on situation for the water-related diseases. we could select acupoints on the intersection of two spiral lines in the qijie mode such as neck, shoulder, diaphragm, groin and knee on situation for the hot-related diseases. In addition, this paper also discusses the disease-designate and needling therapy method in the qijie theory.The third part is the conclusion. The study of classical theory is primarily based on deconstructive analysis of its contained contents, the next is the establishment of correlation links in order to re-build a new theory. The breakthrough,"qijie" and "chong meridian", in this study are come from the contents of the qijie theory. As the research clue, the acupoint "qijie" proves that zongqi and yuanqi are the core substances of the qi in qijie, and the moving route of chong meridian(thoroughfare vessel) is the basis of the qi in qijie. Under the help of the exterior and interior relationship and interoperability relationship between meridians, the qi in qijie completes its moving on the upper limb. As the mode of operation of the qi in qijie is put forward, the clinical significance and physiological basis are set forth, the theory of qijie becomes complete.
