Objective:To explore the relationship between the polymorphism of SELS (selenoprotein S, SELS) gene and susceptibility to EV71(enterovirus71, EV71) in Chinese Han Nationality. Methods:This study adopted case-control design. The polymorphisms of selenoprotein S gene were detected with polymerase chain reaction-restriction fragment length polymorphism (PCR-RFLP) analysis in253cases and392healthy controls. All date was analyzed by SPSS17.0.Result:①The genotype frequencies of GG,GA and AA of G-254A was32.2%,54.1%,13.6%in case and47.2%,44.3%,8.5%in control respectively. The genotype frequencies in case were significantly different compared with those of controls (P<0.05); The genotype frequencies of GG,GA and AA of G-254A was42.4%,43.4%,14.1%in uncomplicated case and25.2%,61.5%,13.3%in complicated case respectively. The genotype frequencies in case were significantly different compared with those of controls (P<0.05)②After adjusting the gene and age by multiple logistic regression analyses, compared with the GG genotype, carrying the A allele was significantly associated with increased risks of in EV71infections (P<0.05) and compared with the GG genotype, carrying the A allele was significantly associated with increased severity of in EV71infections (P<0.05).Conclusion:The SELS G-105A polymorphism might be associated with in EV71infection, and SELS the G-254A polymorphism was associated with the severity of EV71infection.
