OBJECTIVE To study the antimicrobial susceptibility of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to13antibiotics collected from Anhui center for surveillance of Bacterial Resistance andguide rational use of antibiotics.METHODS Agar diffusion test was used to analyze the antimicrobial susceptibility ofPseudomonas aeruginosa from31hospitals in Anhui province between2008and2009.The resistant rate (R%), intermediate rate (I%) and susceptible rate (S%) of drugs werecalculated according to the criteria in guidelines of CLSI (2009) and analyzed withSPSS17.0software by χ2-test. There existed statistical heterogeneity when p<0.05.RESULTS Within two years,121strains and198strains of Pseudomonas aeruginosawere isolated in2008and2009, respectively. The distribution of specimen was mainlyisolated from sputum in recent two years, as followed by secretions and pus. Moreover, the number of multi-drug resistant strains were56(46.28%) and49(24.75%)respectively. There existed statistical heterogeneity (p<0.005). According to themicrobial susceptibility in vitro, susceptibility rate of meropenem,piperacillin-tazobactam, amikacin and imipenem were all above60%in2008, while in2009they were piperacillin-tazobactam (88.9%), meropenem(82.8%), imipenem, piperacillin (77.3%), cefepime(74.7%). Amikacin, piperacillin-tazobactam, carbapenemwere the most active antimicrobial agents against Pseudomonas aeruginosa. Thereexisted no statistical heterogeneity (p>0.05) in resistant rate between amikacin andcarbapenem (imipenem and meropenem). In comparison with2008, the resistant rate of Pseudomonas aeruginosa to cephalosporins, quinolones decreased in2009. Thereexisted statistical heterogeneity (p<0.05).CONCLUSION According to the Microbial susceptibility in vitro, Pseudomonasaeruginosa is resistant to13antibiotics, and it’s resistance to ceftriaxone, aztreanam, quinolinones(ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin and gatifloxacin) is conspicuous, so that theywere not selected to therapy the infection caused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa;Antimicrobial resistance of Pseudomonas aeruginosa is fairly serious, which should bepaid attention to. It is significant to enhance the monitoring of drug resistance based onthe microbial susceptibility in vitro in order to prevent and effectively treat the infectioncaused by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, which could reduce the resistant rate andmulti-drug resistant of Pseudomonas aeruginosa.
