Purpose:This paper analyzes the impact of factors that lead to depression health seeking in patients with behavioral differences, and to guide them on proper health seeking behavior, through the natural conditions (Such as gender, age, education, personality, income level, etc.) symptoms characteristic and their families on the level of awareness of depression and other factors of the patients, which were first diagnosed in First special hospital of Harbin and department of Neurology of Harbin Medical University First Affiliated Hospital, Second Affiliated Hospital, First Hospital of Harbin City, and the Second Hospital of Harbin City.Methods:From the time July2009to July2010, compiled depression patients and their accompanying family members which were first diagnosed in First special hospital of Harbin (Referred to special hospital) for group A. From the time July2009to September2009, compiled depression patients and their accompanying family members which were first diagnosed in the general hospital of the First Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, Second Affiliated Hospital of Harbin Medical University, Harbin Second Hospital (Referred to as the General Hospital)for group B. Make a check of general situation of the questionnaire measured of group A and B. Measured to check in patients with Hamilton Depression Rating Scale (HAMD) and depression symptoms rating scale (SCL-90) Investigation in group A total of309questionnaires and group B were303.Results:(1) Survey of the general condition:There are significant differences with or without religious beliefs between group A and B (χ2=6.329, p<0.05). Significant difference in the mean age of the two groups of patients with depression(χ2=11.105,p <0.05). There are differences between age from19to30,45to55and31to45,56to65, or66years and over. The two groups of patients with depression significant difference in acceptable health seeking costs(χ2=13.705,p<0.01). This difference is the acceptable cost under1000and1000to2000,10000over. There are significant differences between1000-2000and2000-5000, and2000-5000and10000over. Significant differences in the sources of the cost of the two groups of patients with depression(χ2=19.667,p <0.01). Patients at their own expense and to enjoy the urban workers, medical insurance (including urban patients with health insurance and the residents’ health insurance) there are significant differences between patients. The families of the two groups of patients the level of awareness of depression was a significant difference (t=2.675, p<0.01).(2) A and B groups of patients’ degree of depression was no significant difference (χ2=1.863, p>0.05).(3)HAMD points:There are significant differences between White Night changes(t=-2.130, p<0.01) and Hopelessness (t=2.664, p<0.01)in the two groups in the seven factors in the Hamilton Depression Rating Scale,(4) S C L-90:Ther e were four significant differences in two groups’SCL-90, which were positive symptoms equripatition (t=3.319, p<0.01), obsessive-compulsive symptoms (t=1.916, p<0.01), depression (t=0.136, p<0.01), and psychoticism (t=0.838, p<0.01)Conclusion:1. The age, and acceptable cost of health seeking and the source of the cost of health seeking, with or without religious beliefs of patients with depression affect their health seeking behavior. The patients whose age from19-30to46-55had the tendency to comprehensive hospital. But the ages from31to45,56-66and66over tend to Specialist hospitals. Religion, acceptable low cost of health seeking and at their own expense in patients with depression easy to select the general hospital.2. The level of awareness of depression of families of the depression affected health seeking behavior. The families easy to tend to choose a specialist hospital that had more comprehensive of the level of awareness of depression,3. Characteristic symptoms of patients with depression affect their health seeking behavior. White Night changes significantly inclined to choose a general hospital, but hopelessness, obsessive-compulsive symptoms, depression, psychosis performed significantly inclined to the specialist hospital.4. There was no effect in extent of their health seeking behavior of patients with depression.
