[Object]:To investigate the clinical significance of blood neutrophil (N) and lymphocyte (L) count in patients with acute cerebral infarction.[Methods]:Neutrophil and lymphocyte in155cases patients with acute cerebral infarction were counted to investigate the relationship among serum lipoprotein (a) concentrations, total bile acid levels and the degree of cerebral infarction in patients with cerebral infarction. Moreover, the patients were divided into two groups according to the N/L ratio, the N/L>3.50for group A, the N/L≤3.50for group B. The relationship between leukocyte counts and serum lipoprotein (a), total bile acid levels was analyzed. Finally, the patients were further divided into subgroups which including the large infarction group, small infaction group and lacunar infarction group according to the neurological deficit scores, infarction area and prognosis.we further analyzed the changes of white cell count of the three groups.[Results] The results showed that the A group neutrophils count (N) was0.83±0.06, and the serum lipoprotein (a) levels was213.5±406.9mg/L. Total bile acid concentrate was16.25±3.25μmol/L, which was significantly higher than the group B. The N and the N/L ratio was positively correlated with total bile acids instead of non-correlation with serum lipoprotein (a). On the contrary, the L was negatively correlated with total bile acids. Neutrophil values were more increased in large infarction group than small infarction group than lacunar infarction group.[Conclusion]: The simple, fast and inexpensive method of white blood cell count and N/L ratio can be used in the observation of the patient’s condition and prognosis prediction in patients with cerebral infarction, which also reflect the severity of brain injury, the degree of brain function diminish, and in determination the prognosis of the patients with acute cerebral infarction.
