Objective:Migraine is a recurrent vascular headache, pain in one or both sides, and often accompanied by nausea and vomiting. This study was to analyze the disability level of migraine patients, and to record the incidence of drug abuse in patients with migraine in order to choose the appropriate prevention and treatment drugs for patients with medication overuse headache (MOH).Methods:All the120migraine patients were chosen from those who came to Shandong Provincial Hospital from March2011to August2011. The diagnosis of migraine was according to the Second Edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-2). Other primary headache and increased intracranial pressure, high blood pressure headache, the headache epilepsy and other secondary headache were excluded. The clinical data of all patients were collected including general information, medical history, physical examination, auxiliary examination and history of drug treatment. All subjects were examined with the Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and the Migraine Disability Assessment Scale (MIDAS).Results:There are22medication overuse headache patients in all the120migraine patients, accounting for18.33%. The score of VAS in patients with medication overuse headache (8.5±0.5) was significantly higher than in those with non-medication overuse headache (4.7±0.2)(P<0.05). The MIDAS scores in medication overuse headache group was significantly higher than in non-medication overuse headache group (P<0.05).Conclusions:Medication overuse headache had a higher incidence and lead to more serious consequences. One should pay more attention to the treatment and prevention of this disease. Objective:Migraine is a recurrent vascular headache, pain in one or both sides, and often accompanied by nausea and vomiting. The Quality of life and the severity of headache were investigated before the treatment with Pregabalin in medication-overuse headache patients in order to explore the feasibility of pregabalin as alternative medicine on the treatment of drug medication-overuse headache. Methods:All the69subjects with medication-overuse headache were chosen from those who came to Shandong Provincial Hospital from March2011to January2012. Headaches were classified according to the Second Edition of the International Classification of Headache Disorders (ICHD-2). Other primary headache and increased intracranial pressure, high blood pressure headache, the headache epilepsy and other secondary headache were excluded. Clinical data of all patients were collected including general information, medical history, physical examination, the duration, frequency and severity of headache and the auxiliary examination, All subjects completed the Medication Dependence Questionnaire in Headache Patients (MDQ-H). All subjects were given with Visual Analogue Scale (VAS) and Mos36-item Short Form Health Survey (SF-36) before and after treatmented,. Then the datas were analyzed using statistics analysis. Results:The scores of Medication Dependence Questionnaire in the69cases were69.25±20.58, all subjects had significantly medicine dependence. After treatment with Pregabalin, the duration, frequency and severity of headache, VAS scores, SF-36scores were significantly improved (P<0.05).Conclusions:Pregabalin may improve the symptoms of medication overuse headache in patients after stopping analgesics and improve the quality of life and the severity of headache.
