Capparis spinosa L. is a member of Capparis genus of Capparidaceae family. It exists mainly in the north and south slopes of Tianshan Mountains in Xinjiang of China, where has low desert and stone hillside. It also can be found in Gansu, Tibet and other provinces in China. Capparis spinosa L. is rich in chemical composition such as volatile oils, flavonoids and their glycosides, alkaloids and glycosides, fatty, terpenoids, steroids and amimo acides and so on. Capparis spinosa L. It can dispel wind and dampness, eliminate swelling, relieve pain and active blood circulation. In clinical, Capparis spinosa L. as a traditional medicine is used to treat rheumatoid arthritis, gout, sore, skin disease and so on, which shows a large value to research. In our research, it has been found that Capparis spinosa L. has active effects on tumor cells. The n-butanol extract of Capparis spinosa L. has a significant anti-tumor activity on Ovarian cancer cell line SKOV-3, human pancreatic cancer cell lines Canpan-2, human hepatoma cell line HepG-2, and human gasric cancer cell line SGC-7901can be inhibited by n-butanol extract of Capparis spinosa L. In this study, chemical constituints in n-butanol extract of Capparis spinosa L. have been studied, which provided important theoretical and experimental basis for Capparis spinosa L. research. In this paper, fruit of Capparis spinosa L. was initial extracted by95%ethanol. The extract liquid was afforded to vacuum and extracted by petroleum ether, ethyl acetate and n-butanol respectively to get the various parts of the crude extract. Silica gel column chromatography, Sephadex LH-20and re-crystallization methods were used repeated to isolated and purified the n-butanol extract. According to the physical and chemical properties constant and analysis data determined by1H-NMR,13C-NMR and MS spectrum, with checking the structural identification of compound,7compounds have been isolated and identified. They are bis-(5-fomylfurfuryl) ether(1)、5-(Hydroxymethyl)furfural(2)、Uracil(3) Adenosine(4)、2-hydroxy-6-methoxy-1H-indol-3-ethanone(5)、Rutin(6)、2-methyl-6-(1’2’、3’、4’-tetrahydroxybutyl)-pyrazine(7)。The compound (7) that is a known alkaloids was the first time isolated from Capparis spinosa L.
