| Objective To explore the changes and implications of plasma orexin-A levels in malnourished patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease(COPD) at stable stage. Methods Assay the plasma cytokine levels (Orexin A,LEP,TNF-a and Visfatin) and human nutrition index (BMI,TSF, MAC and NC) and pulmonary function index(FEV1,FEV1/FVC, and FEV1%) of40patients from COPD at stable stage and20healthy people, compare the differences and correlation between the three groups. The levels of cytokine was determined by ELISA.RESULTS (1) The human nutrition index (BMI,TSF, MAC and NC) of malnourished patients with COPD at stable stage was lower than no malnourished patients with COPD at stable stage and healthy people(P<0.01).The plasma orexin-A levels in malnourished patients with COPD at stable stage was lower than no malnourished patients with COPD at stable stage and healthy people(P<0.01).The plasma LEP and TNF-a levels were higher than no malnourished patients with COPD at stable stage and healthy people(P<0.05or P<0.01).(2)The plasma orexin-A levels in all people is positive correlation to BMI, MAC and NC (r=0.664,0.452and0.551,P<0.01). The plasma orexin-A levels in all people is negative correlation to LEP and TNF-a(r=-0.308and-0.442, P<0.05or P<0.01).The plasma Visfatin levels, FEV1,FEV1/FVC and FEV1%(r=-0.252,0.242,0.1and0.174,P>0.05) in all people did not correlate significantly with the orexin-A levels.(3) The plasma orexin-A levels in40patients from COPD at stable stage is negative correlation to The plasma LEP,TNF-a and Visfatin levels(r=-0.295,-0.477and-0.397,P<0.05or P<0.01). The plasma orexin-A levels in40patients from COPD at stable stage is positive correlation to BMI(r=0.641,P<0.01).CONCLUSION (1) The plasma orexin-A levels in patients with COPD at stable stage is positive correlation to human nutrition index.(2) The plasma orexin-A levels in patients with COPD at stable stage is negative correlation to The plasma LEP,TNF-a and Visfatin levels. |
