Objective:To investigate the prevalence of sleep disruption and analyze therisk factors in lung cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy, and establish riskprediction model. Methods:Descriptive research design and self-made questionnaire survey wasconducted among425lung cancer patients from the First Affiliated Hospital ofNanchang University, Jiangxi Provincial Cancer Hospital and Jiangxi ProvincialPeople’s Hospital from March2011to March2012. This survey includes the generalsituation, tumor clinical features, social factors, psychological facors. Results:A total of425lung cancer patients receiving chemotherapy wereinvestigated, the incidence of sleep disorder was69.2%, with male patients acountingfor47.53%, female21.65%. Sleep disturbances occurred in patients with average ageof55.98±11.92years old. Logistic regression analysis showed independent factorsassociated with sleep disorders included: the stage of cancer (P=0.001; OR=1.987;OR95%CI:1.306~3.023), history of diabetes (P=0.039; OR=5.402; OR95%CI:1.093~26.689), chemotherapy regimens: Taxol+platinum (P=0.001; OR=38.691;OR95%CI:4.161to359.807), the number of cycles of chemotherapy (P=0.001; OR=1.496; OR95%CI:1.191~1.880), fever (P=0.001; OR,=7.411; OR95%CI:2.240~24.516), fatigue (p=0.000; OR=5.631; OR95%CI:2.269~13.977), pain (P=0.000; OR=5.189; OR95%CI:2.259~11.918), pleural effusion (P=0.001; OR=8.602; OR95%CI:2.483~29.796), no health insurance (P=0.000; OR=0.441;OR95%CI:0.309~0.630), daytime sleepiness (P=0.037; OR=2.351; OR95%CI:1.051~5.258), anxiety (P=0.004; OR=5.078; OR95%CI:1.689~15.267),depression (P=0.024; OR=3.775; OR95%CI:1.188~11.993). The area underROC curve based on individual total risk scores calculated from risk score model was0.924(P <0.0001). It appeared that risk score57may be an acceptable cut off valueyielding a sensitivity of88.99%, specificity of87.79%.Conclusions:The rate of sleep disruption was significantly higher in lung cancer patients than the normal population. Many risk factors associated with sleep disorder. We Can find out the important risk factors and establish the risk model which maybe used in future clinical screening.
