Objective:To investigate the efficacy and safety of postoperative chemoradio-therapy compared with postoperative chemotherapy alone in patients with stageⅠB-ⅢC radically resected gastric cancer. Methods:A total of75patients were collected from our hospital from Janunly2009to Janunly2010.Among them,42patients received chemoradiotherapyfollowing radical resection.and33patients received chemotherapy alone followingradical resection. The chemotherapy alone arm received eight cycles of mFOLFOX(L-leucovorin400mg/m2, Oxaliplatin130mg/m2, the first day,5-fluorouracil:2.6g/m2,46hours continuous, repeated every3weeks) chemotherapy. Thechemoradiotherapy arm received there cycles of mFOLFOX followed by45-Gy XRT(capecitabine625mg/m2, twice per day for5weeks) and there cycles of mFOLFOX.The1-,2-yr survival rate and1-,2-yr Recurrence-free-survival rate were evaluated, aswell as the hematological and gastrointestinal toxic effects, and hepatic and renalfunction.Result:The1-,2-yr surival rate of the chemoradiotherapy group was88.10%,73.8%,respectively,as compared with72.7%,51,5%in the chemotherapygroup,(P=0.196).The1-,2-yr Recurrence-free-survival rate the chemoradiotherapygroup was83.3%,69%, respectively, as compared with78.8%,60.6%in thechemotherapy group,(P=0.091).The locoregional recurrence occurred in4.8percentof the patients in the chemoradioherapy group and13.8percent of those in thechemotherapy group,(P=0.128). The distant metastasis occurred in31percent ofthe patients in the chemoradioherapy group and33percent of those in thechemotherapy group,(P=0.826). The grade1to2,grade3to4hematologic toxic ofchemoradiotherapy group was57.1%,26.1%,as compared with48.5%,21.2%in thechemotherapy group,(P=0.374). The grade1to2,grade3to4The gastrointestinal toxicof chemoradiotherapy group was66.7%,23.8%,respectively,as compared with69.7 %,12.1%in the chemotherapy group,(P=0.239).The grade1to2,grade3to4HFS ofchemoradi-otherapy group was21.5%,0%,respectively,as compared with,18.2%,0%,in the chemotherapy group,(P=1.000).conclusion:Postoperative chemoradiotherapy of patients with stageⅠB-ⅢCradically resected gastric cancer improves the1-,2-yr survival rate and1-,2-yrRecurrence-free-survival rate compared with postoperative chemotherapyalone.Although there was no significant difference between the two treatment arms. The toxic effects are tolerable....
