| Objective To evaluate the efficacy and safety of concurrent chemoradiotherapy and Sequential chemoradiotherapy for esophageal cancerMethods Literatures were retrieved from Cochrane Library, Embase, CNKI, VIP, CBM, Wan Fang, databases by computer and from conference papers and thesis by hand. Randomized control trials about concurrent chemoradiotherapy and Sequential chemoradiotherapy for in the treatment of esophageal cancer were collected. The period duration of searching was between the establishment of the databases and August,2012, Meta-analysis was conducted using RevMan5.1software.Results The meta-analysis of9included RCT, which involved754patients,The meta analysis showed that concurrent chemoradiation versus sequential chemoradiotherapy compared with the total efficiency,1,2,3-year survival rate and local control rate synchronous group was higher than sequential group.the difference was statistically significant (P<0.05); distant metastases among the two groups was not statistically significant (P=0.85), in terms of safety, radiation esophagitis, gastrointestinal reactions synchronization group was higher than the sequential group, was statistically significant (P<0.05). Hematologic toxicity, leukopenia was statistically significant (P<0.05),Thrombocytopenia was not statistically significant (P=0.53).Conclusions Meta analysis showed that, concurrent chemoradiotherapy in the treatment of esophageal cancer curative effect in the near future and1,2,3years survival and local control rate is superior to sequential chemotherapy, but radiation esophagitis, hematologic toxicity of leukopenia and gastrointestinal reactions than sequential group. |
