Objective: To describe the self management condition of enterostomypatients discharged within1year; to analysis self management problems andneeds in enterostomy patients discharged within1year and to give somerecommendation on self management interventions.Methods: This study adopted the qualitative research design withface-to-face in-depth interview individually to collect data. A semi-structuredinterview guide was carried out with a sample of10Patients after enterostomy.A qualitative content analysis was used to identify themes within the dataaccording to "the text transcription, looking for the unit of analysis, coding,classification, subject, validated theme" steps, in the repeated reading on thebase of original data are analyzed in this paper, the same unit combination ofresearch results.Results:In this study, a total of22290transcribed words were transcribed.Throughthe patients who were discharged from the hospital within one year,weacquired a total of382meaning units identified in the interviews which wereagreed to be relevant in relation to the self management status. The patients’experiences of adherence to postoperative self-management were described bytwo themes:" adaptation" and" not fit ". colostomy patients on diet, work,stoma care and self management mostly manifested as" adaptation", and oncomplications, symptoms, odor, emotional self management is mostlydescribed as" not fit"In the needs of patients, three themes were emerged: health education,social support and negative emotional coping, There were a total of181unitsof analysis units to be relevant. Colostomy patients on health educationrequirement can be divided into: the implementation of health education, health education, health education, health education, time effect of healtheducation and health education system. On social support needs range includes:family, medical insurance, ostomy supplies manufacturers, food safety. On theemotional demand mainly expressed as, need professional psychologicaldoctor guidance and participation in stoma association.Conclusion:The self management condition of patient with enterostomy after dischargewithin1year was not so satisfacted.The patients put more concern on:emotional regulation, costs, and diet; patients ability of coping symptoms,complications, emotion is poor; The have good adaptability to diet, andcolleagues communication; Their needs focus on the family supporting,professional guidance, education mode.
