Cough is one of the most common diseases on clinical. However, the TCM theories of treating cough are various, and they are not easy to apply in practice. Now through Professor Han Shuren’s more than forty-year clinical experiences and my four-year learning, I try to spotlight the superiority of TCM treating for cough, conclude the rules to apply on clinical, and at the same time, hope to describe the main principals of Professor Han’s TCM treating for Cough amply.The study is composed of five parts, including reviewing the current research on cough from TCM aspect, the speciality and thought of Professor Han Shuren’s TCM treating for Cough, other clinical main points, discussions, and conclusion. In the first part, predecessors’views on curing cough are analyzed and modern doctors’differentiation and remedies of it are arranged. In the second part, the experiences of clinical manifestation and descriptions of cough of Professor Han are discussed. Besides, three main trains of thought, that is the Eight Principles, Five Zang, and time basing, are expounded for systematic differentiation and treatment. In the third part, Professor Han’s combination of disease and syndrome differentiation on cough variant asthma (CVA) is introduced. In the fourth part, the speciality of Professor Han’s TCM Treating for cough is initially conferred. The last part is the conclusion.The aim of the research is trying to inherit the outstanding TCM treatment based on disease syndrome, and to manifest the order and the importance of the principles, methods, formulas and medicines while treating cough. It also provides the reference for the study of the fundamental theory and methods of TCM differentiation.
