BackgroundThe irritable bowel syndrome was a kind of colonic functional disorder which is very common. It spends a lot of medical resources and reduces the quality of the life of patients. Its etiology and pathogenesis is not yet fully elucidated. So it is difficult for us to prevent and cure the patients. So when constitution is introduced to the study of IBS, it is significant for us to deepen our understanding, advanced the effectiveness of prevention and cure to IBS.Object i vesWe give questionnaires to the selected cases to get the constitution of the IBS patients and analyze the relationship between constitution and the IBS.MethodsWe conducted the questionnaire survey for the IBS patients and record data to SPSS database.he we use the chi-square-analysis to analyze the relationship between constitution and the IBS.Result(1) The frequency analysis of the preliminary findings showed that there had67(33.3%) male and134(66.7%) female in the201patients. The minimum Age was23, the maximum age was75, the mean age was49.1±12.77. The minimum disease duration was6months, the maximum disease duration was20years, the mean disease duration was4.87±3.98years.(2) According to Classification and Determination of Constitution in TCM, the frequency analysis of the findings showed that there had9(4.5%) Type A,32(15.9%) Type B,57(28.4%) Type C,10(5.0%) Type D,11(5.5%) Type E,22(10.9%) Type F,7(3.5%) Type G,49(24.4%) Type H and4(2.0%) Type I. Type B, Type C, Type G are the main constitution of IBS.(3) The composition of the constitution differences is statistically significant through age, education level, diet, tobacco and alcohol, mental and psychological state.ConclusionThe main constitution of IBS is yang deficiency quality, qi deficiency quality and qi depression quality. The composition of the constitution differences is statistically significant through age, education level, diet, tobacco and alcohol, mental and psychological state. We can prevent the IBS according the regular of the Chinese constitution of IBS.
