BackgroundUlcerative Colitis (Ulcerative Colitis, UC) is an unknown cause non-specific inflammatory bowel disease, the present studies focus on infection, immune, genetic and other factors. Immunomodulatory effects of cytokines play an important role in the pathogenesis of UC, Cytokines are biologically active small molecule protein secreted by the cells, Cytokines is divided into two types of pro-inflammatory cytokines and anti-inflammatory factor. Which tumor necrosis factor-α (TNF-alpha) is a proinflammatory cytokine, is an important regulator of inflammatory reaction and response by the immune response. It can upregulate the expression of the chemokine IL-8, IL-8can be further passed on neutrophil chemotaxis, resulting in a variety of inflammatory cell infiltration in intestinal tissue. Therefore, in recent years the role of a variety of inflammatory cells and cytokines in the pathogenesis of UC become more attention.Objectives1、Study of TNF-α expression levels in the serum of patients with UC and its clinical significance.2、Ivestigation TNF-α levels and TCM syndrome type in the serum of patients with UC.Methods May2010-April2012from the Guangzhou Chinese Medicine Hospital Department of Gastroenterology, outpatient and ward to meet the standard UC patients a total of100cases, will be collected from the medical records the Mayo UCAI standard is divided into active and mitigation of, and then the activities of the medical records, divided into mild activity, moderate activity and moderate to severe activity and syndrome differentiation typing, detecting serum level of TNF-α. Summary of clinical collected set of data entry. The data were analyzed using the SPSS15.0analysis software. Measurement data with mean±standard deviation, said the groups were analyzed using ANOVA analysis. The comparison between groups variance Qi by using the least significant difference method, using the heterogeneity of variance and Dunnett’s t-test method, correlation analysis using Pearson product moment correlation analysis, P<0.05was considered statistically significant.Result1、Active UC in patients with serum of TNF-a level with the remission group increased significant difference (P<0.05);2、The UC alleviate of patients with serum of TNF-α level with the active stage of mild comparison, no significant difference (P>0.05), with the activities of mid-term, severe comparison, there are significant differences (P<0.05);3、 Patients with UC of different disease extent in serum of TNF-a level, the severe group UC patients with serum of TNF-α level significantly higher than the light, severe group of patients, patients with moderate group was higher than the mild group of patients, there were significant differences between the three groups (P<0.05);4、TCM syndrome large intestine damp-heat syndrome in patients with UC serum TNF-α levels were significantly higher than the Spleen deficiency and dampness syndrome, there were significant differences between the two groups (P<0.05).Conclusion1、TNF-α levels in the serum increased in parallel with the severity of UC patients, the TNF-α to determine the extent of the UC tissue inflammation injury, observe the progression of the disease and changes in certain diagnostic value. Detecting serum TNF-a in ulcerative colitis, may play an important role in the development process.2、TNF-α levels in the serum of UC patients with the TCM syndrome differentiation of symptoms, measurement of serum TNF-a level of syndrome differentiation type can help determine treatment options. Provide a reference for TCM clinical treatment, Clinical diagnosis and ulcerative colitis Chinese herbs design ideas, to improve the clinical efficacy.3、UC is currently no specific treatment approach for the targeted therapy of the TNF-a may become UC patients in the future a potential value of treatment.
