About71%of the Earth’s surface is ocean: a huge treasure source of biological resources. Due tothe special nature of the marine environment (high salt, high pressure, dark, etc.), marine life in thelong process of evolution produce the metabolisms which contain the unique structure. At present, itis estimated that only1%of the total marine microorganisms have been isolated and identified, ofwhich even fewer was analysised the chemical constituents. In recent years, marine microorganism has become a hot research areas because it containsrich secondary metabolites with varieties chemical structure and interesting active ingredients. In oursearch for secondary metabolites from marine fungi with cytotoxity and/or novel chemical structures,we have made a great investigation of Torula herbarum named10081and Chaetomium sp named10089isolated from a sea cucumber Genus Pentacta and Notarchus leachii cirrosus Stimpson。The sea cucumber Genus Pentacta belongs to Phylum Echinodermate,Class Holothurioidea,Order Dendrochirotida,Family Cucumariidae,Genus Pentacta,it’s epiphytic fungi torula herbarumbelongs to Class Fungi Imperfecti,Order Moniliales,Family Dematiaceae,Genus Torula. Thesubject foucs on the chemical structure and biological activity of secondary metabolites, isolated fromsea cucumber epiphytic fungus Torula herbarum by solvent extraction and chromatography methodsincluding VLC, LPLC, MPLC, HPLC on silica gel, ODS C-18and Sephadex LH-20.15compoundswere isolated and identified, containing10naphthoquinone compounds, a cyclic peptides, fourmultihydroxy sterols. In the identified compounds, p-1is a new compound which we namedHerbarone. In the vitro cytotoxic activity test, Naphthoquinone compounds show certain inhibition activityon the MG-63(osteosarcoma) cells, A549(lung cancer) cells, and Lovo (colon) cells.According to the literature and active experiments, the results show that the number of in the molecule ofnaphthoquinone is inversely proportional to the cytotoxic activity.Chaetomium sp named10089belong to Kingdom Fungi, Mycetea, Phylum Ascomycota, ClassPyrenomycetes,Order Sphaeriales, Family Chaetomiaceae, Genus Chaetomium. This topic was onthe chemical constituents and biological activity of secondary metabolites isolated from Chaetomiumsp, ten compounds were isolated and identificated, four of which is macrolide, three is cyclic peptides,a sesquiterpene, two sterols. This project to study China’s marine invertebrates, two kinds of epiphytic microorganism, a totalof25compounds were isolated and identified, including a new compound, the vitro activity assayshowed certain cytotoxic activity, indicating that epiphytic microorganisms of ocean life havepotential value of development, provide a reference value for the future development of marineresources.
