Objective: To study the influence factors on the recurrence and on thetime between the operation and the recurrence. Methods:A retrospective analysis was made on clinical data of20caseswho had rectal cancer, underwent radical surgery and had recurrence in ourhospital from January,2010to December2011. According to the time awayfrom surgery20cases were separated into one year group and over one yeargroup, then analyze age, sex, preoperative tumor edge from anus distance, tumor cells differentiation degree, tumor stage, operation methods, theposition of postoperative recurrence relations with recurrence time. Results: Among the20cases who had rectal cancer recurrence andunderwent radical surgery, recurrence time of11patients (55.0%) is withinone year,9(45.0%) over one year; Male14cases (70%),the recurrencewithin one year in9(64.29%);women6patients (30.0%) the recurrence withinone year in2cases (33.33%);7cases (35.0%) whose ages were less than60years the recurrence within one year in5patients (71.43%); More than60yearsis13cases (65.0%), the recurrence within one year in6cases (46.15%);Well-differentiated3cases (15.0%), the recurrence within one year in one case;Mid-Differentiation in10patients (50.0%), the recurrence within one year in4cases (40.0%); poor-differentiation in7patients (35.0%), all of the sevenpatients (100.0%) have the recurrence within one year;13patients (65.0%)haddistance over7cm from margin of anal, the recurrence within one year in10patients (76.92%),7cases with distance more than7cm from the anusmargin, the recurrence within one year in3cases (42.86%); Miles surgeryon three patients (15.0%), the recurrence within one year in1cases (33.33%),Dixon surgery on17cases (85.0%),the recurrence within one year in11 patients (64.71%); Distant metastases (liver and lung metastasis)13cases(65%), the recurrence within one year in7cases (53.85%), local recurrences in7patients (35.0%), the recurrence within one year inr4cases (57.14%); DukesA stage3cases (15.0%),the recurrence within one year in1case (33.33%), Bstage9cases (45.0%), the recurrence within one year in4cases (44.44%), Cstage8cases (40.0%),the recurrence within one year in6cases (75.0%).Conclusion:1.age, cell differentiation degree, Dukes stage are influence factors onrectal cancer recurrence;2.age, cell differentiation degree, Dukes stage are influence onpostoperative recurrence and recurrence time.Young, poor differentiationdegree and the bad Dukes staging suggests that the early postoperativerecurrence.Gender, the distance from the anus margin、first operation nohave no significant effect on recurrent time.Patients with tumor location below7cm from the anus margin have higher ratio than patients that have tumorlocation over7cm。 Tumor Distance is less than7cm (patients with rectalcancer below the peritoneum) should be carefully selected for the sphincterpreserving surgery. But this study have the flaw of the number of cases, a largenumber of samples meta-analysis is still needed.3.Local recurrence and distant metastasis have no obvious difference inrecurrence time.
