Patient’s Preoperative Expectation And Surgeon’s Satisfaction Versus Patient’s Postoperative Satisfaction After Total Knee Arthroplasty

Objective:To evaluate the significant differences between the patient’spreoperative expectations and postoperative satisfactions by the ranges of preand postoperative WOMAC as well as pain VAS themselves,we also havecompared the satisfaction differences between the patients and the surgeons.Material and Methods: Between December2009and December2011,123primary TKAs were carried out on112patients.50patients （50knees）were followed up.The following rate is73.5%.All of the patients fit for theguidelines:bilateral knee OA with one lateral aggravated,bilateral ones carriedout on TKA were cancelled,woman,junior school or elementary schoolexperience,The mean BMI is24.54kg/m~2(23.44-25.63kg/m2) and the meanaverage age is64years ol（d42y～77y）when carried on TKA.the mean followedyear is0.8years(0.5y-2y).All the approaches is the medial-anterior of the knee.We apply the SF-36to evaluate the whole health conditions of50patients.The author(not the operator) have finished the message collection ofpatients before the operations.The patients finish the assessment of preoperativeexpectation WOMAC,preoperative expectation VAS and WOMAC,pain VASas well as satisfaction VAS of postoperation.The author(not the operator) finishthe satisfaction VAS referring to the X-rays and clinical examinations.Results:The score of the SF-36of Group A1is63.42±11.47, and theGroup A2is58.81±10.28，(P＞0.05,paired T test).The statistics show that thewhole health conditions are almost identical.The score of preoperation expectation WOMAC is17±1.73,which groupis named [40,55）by age,The score of more than6months postoperation WOMAC is26.71±1.2,(P＜0.01, paired T test). The score of preoperationexpectation WOMAC is17.74±1.33,which group is named [55，65）by age,Thescore of more than6months postoperation WOMAC is27.53±1.78,(P＜0.01,paired T test).The score of preoperation expectation WOMAC is17.58±1.82,which group is named [65,～）by age,The score of more than6months postoperation WOMAC is27.25±4.68,(P＜0.01, paired T test).The score of preoperation expectation VAS is10±1.83,which group isnamed [40,55）by age,The score of more than6months postoperation VAS is21.43±5.16,(P＜0.01, paired T test).The score of preoperation expectationVAS is10.47±4.86,which group is named[55，65）by age,The score of morethan6months postoperation VAS is22.79±5.13,(P＜0.01, paired T test).Thescore of preoperation expectation WOMAC is8.75±4.66,which group is named[65,～）by age,The score of more than6months postoperation WOMAC is27.71±6.71,(P＜0.01, paired T test).The score of satisfaction VAS of patients is83.04±4.91more than6months of postoperation later.the The score of satisfaction VAS of surgeon is93.78±2.76,(P＜0.01, paired T test).Conclusion:1) The patient’s preoperation expectations are higher than postoperationsatisfaction.2) The patient’s expectations of pain-releasing are higher than the actualpain-release.3)Comparing with patients,the surgeons have the higher satisfactionsabout the operation.
