Objectives:1. To observe the changes of serum insulin-1ike growth factor-1(IGF-1), amylin in obstructive sleepapnea-hypopnea syndrome (OSAHS) and OSAHS with the type 2 diabetes(T2DM) to investigatethe role of IGF-1 and amylin in the mechanism of patients with OSAHS complicated withT2DM.2. To analyze the effects of treatment with nasal-continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) onIGF-1 and amylin of OSAHS with T2DM.Methods:1. All study subjects were detected by PSG. Those subjects were divided into four groups:OSAHS group (O group), 28 samples; OSAHS with T2DM group (OD group), 28 samples;T2DM group (DM group), 28 samples; and Normal group (N group), 28 samples. The IGF-1 andamylin levels were measured with ELISA in all of the patients.2. 20 OSAHS with T2DM patients were given nasal-continuous positive airway pressure(nCPAP) treatment. To reviewe the PSG, to measure fasting blood-glucose and the levels ofIGF-1 and amylin again after 1 month of nCPAP treatment.Results:1. The levels of IGF-1 in O group, DM group and OD group were lower than that in N group(P<0.01), and OD group was the lowest. There were significant differences among O group, DMgroup and OD group. In the contrary, The levels of amylin in O group, DM group and OD groupwere higher than that in N group (P<0.01), and OD group was the highest. There were significantdifferences among O group, DM group and OD group.2. There were an increase in IGF-1 concentrations (P<0.01) in OSAHS with T2DM after CPAPtherapy, but that was still lower than the control group. There were a decrease in amylinconcentrations (P<0.01) in OSAHS with T2DM after CPAP therapy, but that was still higher thanthe control group.3. Serum IGF-1 levels were negatively related with AHI (P<0.01), and positively related withLSaO2(P<0.01). Serum amylin levels were negatively related with LSaO2(P<0.01), andpositively related with AHI (P<0.01).Conclusions:1. Intermittent hypoxia is the one of the risk factor for IGF-1 level lower and amylin level higher.2. Serum IGF-1 and amylin levels could be the predictors of high blood sugar on OSAHScomplicated with T2DM. 3.The levels of IGF-1, amylin and fasting blood sugar are all improved in OSAHS with T2DMafter nCPAP treatment. And it indicates that effective CPAP treatment could delay the process ofT2DM caused by OSAHS.Key words: sleep apnea-hypopnea syndrome, T2DM, IGF-1, amylin,nPAP...
