Study Of Liver Volume Of Old People By MSCT Measurement And Its Clinical Significance

Objective To discuss the method of MSCT measurement of the livervolume and method of evaluating hepatic size in normal old adult andtheir significance．Methods 100 cases without liver diseases and heap-tomegaly were selected．Their liver volume，the maximal and hepatichilar cross-sectional areas in normal old adult were obtained from abd-ominal MSCT examinations．The hepatic sizes in relation to age、weightand gender were compared Results 1.The mean value of the hepaticvolume was(1150.30±172.40)cm~3, in controls ( 50 years old thefollowing).2.The mean value of the hepatic volume was (1116.20±165.56)cm~3, in 50 to 60 people between; 3.The mean value of the hepaticvolume was (1013.17±157.80)cm3, in 60 to 70 people between;4.Themean value of the hepatic volume was (910.26±148.56)cm~3, in 70 to 80people between ;5.The mean value of the hepatic volume was (849.21±139.14)cm~3, in 80 years old. Four groups compares with controlssignificantly（p＜0.005）.and were positively correlated to height、weight、body surface area.The correlation coefficient were 0.678、0.821 and0.886respectively(p＜0.001).The formular derivated by boby surface area of unimpaired population was LV(cm~3)=570.5×BSA(m~2) 167.2.Intotal．Along with age increasing，the liver volume，the maximal hepatichilar cross-sectional areas in normal old adult have a tendency ofshrinking．The liver volume correlated well with the maximalcross-sectional areas.especially.correlation coefficient between livervolume and maximal cross—sectional areas were above0.82．Conclusion The volume measurement of the liver by MSCT innormal old adult is relatively accurate .the liver volume correlated closelywith the maximal areas，especially，the maximal cross-sectional areasmay be used for evaluating the size of liver is clinically．The method issimple and convenient．The size of liver is related to age and gender in acertain extent．Avoid misdiagnosis of liver lesions on positivesignificance in old liver for smaller.
