| Objective To studythe correlationof the expression of VEGF and EGFRproteinin non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) andthe clinic pathological features and prognosis. Methods Immunohistochemistry of tissue sections was used to study the expression of EGFR and VEGF in 124 NSCLC tissues and 15 cases normal lung tissues adjacent to cancer tissues. Results The positive rate of VEGF is significantly higher in patient with NSCLC than that in normal lung tissues adjacent to carcinomas (66.1%%versus0%, P< 0.01).The expression of VEGF had no relationship with clinic pathological factors including age, sex, smoking, tumor size, histological type of lung cancer and had relationship with clinic pathological factors including TNM stage, lymph node metastasis. The positive rate of VEGF was lower in stage h II group than that in stage Ilhâ…£group, and in lymph non-metastasis group than in lymph node metastasis group. The positive expression rate of EGFR is significantly higher in NSCLC than that in normal lung tissues adjacent to carcinomas (52.4%versus 0%, P<0.01); No relationship was found among the expression of EGFR and clinic pathological factors such as sex, age, tumor size, smoking, histological type, differ entiation degree, TNM stage and lymph node metastasis. Relationship was found among VEGF and EGFR in non-small cell lung cancer.CONCLUSION(1) The expression of VEGF protein and EGFR protein was high in NSCLC, The expression of VEGF and EGFR might play a important role in carcinogenesis of lung carcinoma.(2) The expression of VEGF had relationship with clinic pathological factors including TNM stage, lymph node metastasis, survival. And no relationship was found among the expression of EGFR and clinic pathological factors such as histological type, differentiation degree, TNM stage, lymph node metastasis. The expression of EGFR was highting in dead group than in survival group.VEGF might be good prognostic indicator for patients with lung carcinoma.(3) Positive reactive rate of VEGF protein in the group with lymph nodes involved was much higher than that in the group without lymph nodes involved, suggesting that VEGF might be a promising marker in the course of metastasis in NSCLC.(4) Relationship was found among the protein expression of VEGF and EGFR in non-small cell lung cancer, which indicates they might act synergistically in angiogenesis of NSCLC. |
